On December 31, 2012, the California Department of Aging has issued a letter advising that the mandate by the California Department of Health Services requiring that all Community Based Adult Services (“CBAS”) Centers be operated by not for profit entities has been postponed until further notice and at least until January 1, 2014.
This announcement will have a significant impact on CBAS centers, who have been in limbo trying to determine if they should convert to nonprofit status, sell their centers to a not for profit or go out of business.
If you need further information on this matter, please feel free to contact Harry Nelson at hnelson@nelsonhardiman.com.
